If you’ve spent any time trying to lay out or design albums yourself, you probably realized it’s the kind of thing you either love or hate. At Penguin, we love designing albums. Design comes naturally to us! The result? A gorgeous album your clients will love—and a simple process for you.

1. You upload

Simply upload your photos via our easy-to-use interface.

2. We design

Within 5 business days after uploading your photos, you will receive a proof. We work together to get it finalized. Two rounds of edits are included.

3. You approve

Our digital proof has no Penguin branding, so you have the freedom to send it directly to your client for approval.

4. We print and assemble your hand-crafted album

Then it ships immediately!

After we receive your photos, we’ll send your design to you within 5 business days.

You can either name the files in the order you want them to appear (e.g. image1, image2, etc.) or you can let us work our magic or design the album based on the content. Please don’t use any symbols (e.g. +, &, etc.) when you are naming your files.

Here are a couple of general guidelines regarding the number of photos you should upload:

  • For a 20-page (10 spreads) album we recommend between 50-60 photos
  • For a 30-page (15 spreads) album we recommend between 60-70 photos.
  • For a 40-page (20 spreads) album we recommend between 70-80 photos
  • For a 50-page (25 spreads) album we recommend between 80-90 photos
  • For a 60-page (30 spreads) album we recommend between 90-100 photos

Please save your photos as high-res JPEG files (300 DPI) using the sRGB color space. When you are placing your order, you’ll be able to provide a link to where your photos are stored. We recommend using Dropbox or WeTransfer but any file sharing service will work. If you don’t have a Dropbox account, we can create a folder on our account that you can use to upload your photos to. Please don’t use any symbols (e.g. +, &, etc…) when you are naming your files.

All of our albums include two revisions free of charge. Subsequent revisions are $20.00 each. We spend quite a bit of time working with our clients to design the perfect album so it’s rare that it takes more than two revisions to finalize a design.

Absolutely! We’ll send your design to you via our online album proofing software without any Penguin Albums branding.

Yes! If you would like to design your own album, please contact us beforehand. We will provide you with our design specifications (bleed lines and trim marks) so you can design your own spreads.
